Marble & Co, a master at crafting marble art pieces, continues to strive for innovation through its designers' unique ideas. One of our designers' inventions was to transform a traditional wooden game into a luxurious and sophisticated game.

The Origin of Congklak 

Congklak, also known as Mancala, is a traditional game with a history that spans many cultures and centuries. Its origins are often traced back to ancient times, with evidence suggesting that the game was played in various forms across Africa and the Middle East. The game eventually spread to Asia, including Indonesia, where it is known as Congklak.

"Congklak" is believed to refer to the sound of the seeds as they are moved across the board, reminiscent of the gentle, rhythmic patter of raindrops. The game quickly gained popularity among the villagers, spreading to neighboring regions and eventually across the archipelago.

Congklak, like many traditional games, became more than just a pastime; it became a part of the cultural fabric, teaching lessons of strategy, patience, and community. Its simplicity and depth captured the essence of the kingdom’s way of life, reflecting their harmony with nature and their ability to find joy in simplicity.

How We Innovate Congklak Into Marble Art Piece

Board games are typically composed of plastic. This time, Marble & Co transformed it into a solid and appealing material with marble veins.

Marble & Co's board games are not only playable, but they also serve as decorative items for the home. Congklak is a traditional board game that we transformed into an artwork. Congklak was originally built of wood, but as time passes, it becomes more difficult to locate sturdy wood-based materials. 

That's where our idea emerged to create a congklak game made of marble. Marble has solid and durable material properties. Even with proper maintenance, the beauty of marble will not vanish. Our congklak game boards are made using high-tech CNC technology, so you can be certain in the quality of our marble board games.
